Adding a New Product

Note: This feature is available only to users with administrative permissions.

Add a new product when a required product is not represented in your product list. When adding the product, you supply the product's identification and (optionally) its MSDS. This operation does not request or acquire the new product's data or MSDS from any official source.

If a past revision of the product is present in your system, do not use this feature to add a new revision. To preserve an accurate revision history for the product, see Managing a Product's MSDSs for details on requesting, acquiring, or uploading a new revision as appropriate.

To add a new product to the product list:

Starting at the Add a Product page (How do I get there?), do the following:

  1. Enter the identification of the product you want to add:

  2. If you do not have an MSDS file to upload for this new product, skip to step 3. If you do have an MSDS file to upload, select YES! I would like to upload an MSDS for this new product. Select this MSDS's Language and enter its Revision Date.

  3. Click Save in the lower right. The result depends on your action at step 2:

  4. Click Browse... and select the new product's MSDS file.

    The selected file's path appears in the Upload MSDS File field.

  5. Click Save in the lower right.

    The new product is added to your product list. Its Product Information page opens in a new window, showing the uploaded MSDS file.
